Do you ever struggle with making decisions? Or do you wonder why and how your partner makes them so differently than you do? Some people are Thinkers, who make decisions quickly, while others are Feelers, who seem to take forever to reach a decision. Some are very sharp, clear, definite and decisive, while others are cautious, gentle, investigative and option-oriented. For a relationship to succeed you will need to mesh your differ­ences and develop your own decision-making style as a couple. This third set of MBTI preferences shows how you and your part­ner individually prefer to make decisions.

Dr. Dave Stoop describes these two personality types:

Thinking people can stand back and look at the situation. They make a decision from an objective viewpoint, inter­preting the situation from the outside. They believe that if they gather enough data they can arrive at the truth. They are always searching for this truth, which they believe exists as an absolute. These people see things as black-and-white, as absolutes. If the answer seems to lie in the gray area, think­ing people believe that they just haven’t gathered enough data. If they can just look further, they will discover the truth.

On the other hand, feeling people always make deci­sions from a personal standpoint by putting themselves into the situation. They are subjective, believing that two truths can exist side-by-side.

The difference between a thinking person and a feeling person can be seen in the way the two make decisions, such as buying a car. Thinking people get the consumer reports and do research into different types of cars. They ask themselves, “Which is the best financial value? Which is safest?” They’ll decide which criteria is most important to them and then make a decision based on that criteria. When they go to the car dealership, they’ll know exactly what they want, and even that persuasive car salesman can’t talk them into buying another car.

Feeling people start looking at all the cars on the road. “Which car would I like to be driving right now?” they ask themselves. “What color looks good? What make? What style?” When feeling people arrive at the car dealership, they may think, “I want a blue Honda coupe.” But after they’ve looked around a while, they may fall in love with a metallic green Honda Accord. And that’s the car they’ll purchase —even if it costs more money.

The important questions to ask yourself are: How do I make a decision? Do I listen more to my head when I make good decisions, or do I listen more to my heart?

About two-thirds of women are on the feeling side, even though there is an equal distribution of both prefer­ences in the American culture.’

The Thinking or Feeling preference is the trait that reflects how you handle your emotions, even though the trait really has very little to do with your emotions themselves. A Thinker (T) is often uncomfortable talking about feelings. They may also be uncomfortable in the area of aesthetics and building relation­ships. Other people may see them as aloof and cool, even though they are actually quite sensitive.

Feeling (F) individuals are comfortable with emotions. Not only are they aware of their own feelings, they can sense what others are experiencing as well. When it comes to making a deci­sion, they’re not just concerned with how it affects them but others as well.

To show you the difference, if a T were on a jury he would be concerned with justice and fairness. He’d look at the facts, find the truth, then make a decision. An F on a jury would be con­cerned with mercy. Facts are all right, but what were the circum­stances? Why did the person do what he did? An F would want to give the benefit of a doubt.

Year 2006. A terrible thing happened in the beginning of the year……10 of my classmates had been transferred to S1….10 of them….left only 20 of us here in the class….
Everyone was blaming the skol…..starting of Form6, they decided to have 2 physics&Chemistry class and only  1 Bio&Chem class……the Physics Chem class only have abt 10+ in each class,while our S4 bio chem class have 30 students….this is their decision! Yet after half year, they suddenly felt their decision was wrong,the amount of students in class wasn’t balance….and they just simply made another decision-transfer 10 S4 students to S1,which is a Bio Phys Chem<pure sc> class…..i  was thinking,maybe somewhere in June,the skol thinks S2 and S3 students are very little,thus have to combine the 2 classes…..y can’t they think properly before making any decision?do they thinking of the students’ feelings?……….NO!

S4 have gone thru many things,happiness,sadness……..I believed no one will deny tat S4 is the most happening class in lower 6!after all,we were separated …

The first day or transferring class, everyone seems so dull and moody…..The very first time S4 was totally silence without teacher in class….even Mrs. T asked us questions, everyone wasn’t willing to open their mouth…This made Mrs. T worried and tried her best to cheer us up with lots of jokes and also funny action…but the class just remained quiet…
Mrs. T said "this is life"…..no matter it’s good or bad, we still have to face the realities….

30 students class can’t concentrate in class?
30 students class will not score well in exam?
30 students class will be a playful class?
30 students class will face difficulties in practical?

personally,i dun think those are reasonable!even a class of 5 students doesn’t guarantee to get straight A in STPM!

but i’m glad tat even we were separated,but we’re still very close…

for example, we had a january birthday party …..for daryl, jasreena,
pui er and tzu lee…..i believed no other class could do tat…..
.

and yesterday we just had Mrs. T’s birthday  party! S2 joined us for
the celebration…..i can see tat Mrs. T was really happy…..She must
be really touched becoz all her students celebrated b’day
with her…..and I’m thankful tat the 10 frens in S1 now gave full
co-operation in this event.
